The Ministry of health in partnership with E-health Somalia organize Annual Universal health Coverage event with highly significant activities. These include intensified provision of essential health services throughout the country in a number of health facilities and in “health camps” for deprived communities, such as the people displaced by the Climate related events. Information on the promotion of health and prevention of diseases isprovided in these sites, as well as through a mass-media and social media campaign, also aimed at increasing community awareness about their rights to health and raising people’s voices and active participation in a common effort to improve health, as a shared responsibility.
On UHC day 12th of December the commemoration ceremony is organized, attended by senior government officials, private sector, academia, health professionals, civil society, donors and partners.
The objective of these UHC Days activities is firstly to link the national policies to actions that will further facilitate critical discussions on services delivery expansion across the country. Secondly, it aims to increase awareness about the important of health for all, universal health coverage, among stakeholders in the sector and beyond. It aims to shed a light on the progress made so far, opportunities and challenges in healthcare and health security. Finally, it aims to bring communities closer to the health sector, increase citizens’ ownership of services and awareness of their right to health,
